IDEAS Academy Cohort Programs & Activities

IDEAS Academy has been offered to Alief Early College High School upper classmen as an outside the classroom program since Spring 2018.

Opportunities:

• Select high school classes offering IDEAS Academy curriculum
• Outside class cohort meeting weekly on Fridays at WHI

Since Fall 2021, the IDEAS Academy has been offered to students participating in select courses through Alief ISD's Career and Technical Education program.

Opportunities:

• Courses in Engineering STEM, Health Sciences, and Computer Science

LSAMP is a highly involved leadership and academic enhancement program both on and off campus at HCC. The Community Experience brings IDEAS Academy to this program and has been offered since Spring 2020. Each year, 18-20 students are selected to participate. This cohort meets weekly virtually or in person at the West Houston Institute.

Requirements:

• Current HCC student and STEM major with at least 3.0 GPA
• Application to LSAMP Community of Experience required

Participation:

• Early September each academic year
