Fereshteh Solati | Contemplation presents a body of work rooted in inner emotion, imagination, and reflection. A faculty member at HCC, Solati invites viewers to engage with her paintings as expressive spaces shaped by texture, gesture, and color. Using recurring imagery such as butterflies, birds, and elements of nature, the exhibition explores themes of freedom, contradiction, and emotional complexity within today’s world.
A Quote from the Artist:
"My works are based on my mind and inner emotions, which sometimes show my imaginations or dreams. Encourages viewers to participate in the vision I had throughout the creation of the piece, from the first impression to my head. The viewer is meant to feel the painting and interpret some symbols. I try to mix my feelings with imagination and show them with brush strokes, textures, lines, and colors. Our world today is a complex world where there are constant conflicts and contradictions, and I am trying to express this complexity through texture and lines in simple subjects like Butterfly, Bird, and nature to convey emotions like freedom, silence, happiness or anxiety. Butterflies and Birds are innocent creatures that are caught up in these contradictions of the world. I am trying with dripping, splashing, adding or wiping paints, aggressive brushwork, using a palette knife, papers, fabrics, yarns, marker, pencils, crayons, and wood chips express my personal freedom, rejection of rigid traditions, meaning in a chaotic world. I am passionate about art and capable of different techniques and methods. Like most artists, I keep learning and studying, and I am open to all new information to help my students."
