Adult Education Orientation Registration

Thank you for your interest in our program. All potential and returning students of the Adult Education program must register for Orientation & Registration on this webpage. This is to ensure that we are able to send important updates about scheduling changes and other pertinent information to those seeking to enroll in our program. We look forward to your registration and seeing you at one of our upcoming Orientation & Registration sessions.

For Orientations in other languages:

English as a Second Language (ESL)
Students are taught reading, listening, speaking and writing at three levels: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced.

TxCHSE (GED®)
Designed for native and non-native speakers who want to improve their language skills and gain core academic skills needed to obtain a High School Equivalency.
 
Career4U Academy (Workforce Trainings)
Allows students to attend college without a TSI test, without a high school diploma, and earn a Level I certificate or Occupational Skills Award

Covers all subjects pertaining to the TxCHSE Test:
Math, Social Studies, Language Arts, Reading, Science

Career4U Academies:
Healthcare, Business, information Technology, and Construction

FAQs

  • ESL classes designed to help foreign language learners to improve fluency and learn English.
  • ABE and High School Equivalency (HSE) classes designed to improve basic skills and prepare students for the GED examination, develop job readiness skills, prepare for college or workforce trainings.
  • Applicants 18 years old and older.
  • Age exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.  All exceptions must be cleared through the Adult Education & Literacy program during the orientation/registration site.

What you need to upload:

In alignment with updated federal guidance, all students, both new and returning, must verify their eligibility prior to receiving services. This verification is now a required part of our enrollment process.

To comply with this requirement, students must submit one of the following forms of documentation:

  • A valid document issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
  • A U.S. birth certificate
  • A REAL ID-compliant identification card

Please note: If a student is unable to provide the required documentation, services must be suspended until eligibility is verified and approved.

  • 19 years or older: government issued picture ID with birthdate. (I.D. may be U.S., state ID, passport, visa, military ID, etc.)
  • 18 year old: Must provide school withdrawal or high school completion information, parent permission and picture ID.
  • 17 year old: Bring government-issued picture ID along with school withdrawal papers and parent permission.

Our program is required to ask all potential participants to upload either a Texas Driver's License (TDL) and/or a U.S.-issued Social Security Card (SSN). The information on these documents will be used solely for the purpose of program evaluation and improvement.

  1. New applicants will complete the HCC online application
  2. Both new and returning Adult Education applicants will complete the OneFlow application
  3. Applicants will schedule an assessment (TABE for TxCHSE; BEST 2.0 for ESL)
