Adult High School

HCC Adult High School began over 40 years ago as one of the landmark programs of the college. In partnerships with local ISDs, HCC began offering night school and credit recovery courses to local students. All of the courses are taught by certified teachers and TEA approved.

Tuition Cost

  • $175.00 Credit Recovery (per ½ credit)
  • $275.00 Original credit (per ½ credit)

If this is your first time registering with Houston City College, contact your school counselor and they will provide you with the HCC-AHS Approval form. This form is not available online, only your counselor can provide it to you/parent.

*If you are not currently enrolled in a public, charter or private school please contact our office directly.*

Application Steps for New Students:

  1. Start the application process
  2. Scroll down and Click on “Take the first step: Apply HCC”
  3. Click on “Start New Application”
  4. Click on “Adult High School”
  5. Complete the entire application. Leave nothing blank, doing so can prolong the process.

About Adult High School

Credit Recovery Program is essential for students who need to retake courses or earn credits they missed or failed during the regular high school year.

Original Credit allows students to take courses that they have never taken before for credit. These are courses taken for the first time.

All Registration will be handled manually by the AHS Team. School counselors are to submit your AHS approval form by email (ahs@hccs.edu).

Spring 2026 Registration & Class Dates

  • Session I:
    •  Session I Registration: November 3, 2025 through January 9, 2026
    • Session I Classes start:  January 23, 2026 through March 8, 2026
    • Mandatory Orientation (Virtual)-January 16, 2026 @ 6:30pm
  • Session II:
    • Session II Registration: November 3, 2025 through January 16, 2026
    • Session II Classes start: March 20, 2026 through May 1, 2026
    • Mandatory Orientation (Virtual)-March 6, 2026 @ 6:30pm
  • Credit Recovery
    • Saturday (8 a.m. - 12 p.m.)
    • or Sunday (1 p.m. - 5 p.m.)
  • Original Credit
    • Fridays (5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.) and Saturdays (8 a.m. - 12 p.m.)

Summer 2026 Registration & Class Dates to be Announced

    • Session I Classes start:  June 1, 2026, through June 26, 2026
