The Automotive Technology program prepares students for in-demand careers in today’s rapidly evolving transportation industry. Blending hands-on training with a strong technical foundation, the program covers modern vehicle systems including engines, drivetrains, electrical and electronic systems, diagnostics, and emerging automotive technologies.

The Criminal Justice program at Houston City College offers an AA transfer pathway and an AAS degree with concentrations in law enforcement, corrections, or juvenile justice. A Basic Peace Officer Licensing certificate is also available. Students must be 21 or older to enter the police academy, and Texas requires a four-year degree for careers such as probation officer or protective services worker.

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program prepares students to respond quickly and effectively in critical situations. Through hands-on training and real-world experience, students gain the skills and knowledge needed for certification and a career in emergency care. Graduates leave ready to serve their communities with confidence, compassion, and professionalism.

The Fire Science and Safety program at Houston City College supports the growing national demand for college-educated fire service professionals. The program builds technical skills in fire suppression, fire prevention, fire service management, life safety, and related areas to prepare students for advancement in the modern fire-fighting workforce.
