The Computer Programming program at Houston City College prepares students for today’s technology-driven workplace by building strong technical skills in coding, problem-solving, communication, and software development. Computer Systems Networking is a rapidly growing field as businesses increasingly depend on remote communication, cloud services, and wireless technologies. The program at Houston City College prepares students with the skills needed to build, manage, and secure modern network systems.

The Cosmetology program at Houston City College provides both theory and hands-on training to prepare students for careers as licensed cosmetologists. Graduates who complete the full curriculum are eligible to take the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) exam and, upon passing, qualify for state licensure and employment opportunities.

The Criminal Justice program at Houston City College offers an AA transfer pathway and an AAS degree with concentrations in law enforcement, corrections, or juvenile justice. A Basic Peace Officer Licensing certificate is also available. Students must be 21 or older to enter the police academy, and Texas requires a four-year degree for careers such as probation officer or protective services worker.

The Associate of Arts in Dance at Houston City College prepares students for dance careers or transfer to four-year programs. Students develop technique in African, ballet, jazz, and modern dance; study choreography; and gain performance experience in a supportive environment led by professional faculty and guest artists. The program is committed to developing well-rounded, culturally diverse, and thoughtful dancers.

The Dental Hygiene program at Houston City College – Coleman College for Health Sciences prepares students to become entry-level dental hygienists ready to serve the oral health needs of the community. Training includes classroom instruction, hands-on labs, and clinical practice to build strong patient-care and technical skills.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is a four-semester program including online lectures, in-person labs and offsite clinical rotations. Classes can be on any day of the week, including the weekend. The program will let the students know in advance of their schedule.

The Electronics Engineering Technology program at Houston City College prepares students for technical careers by offering focused specializations in Biomedical Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology.
