The Automotive Technology program prepares students for in-demand careers in today’s rapidly evolving transportation industry. Blending hands-on training with a strong technical foundation, the program covers modern vehicle systems including engines, drivetrains, electrical and electronic systems, diagnostics, and emerging automotive technologies.

Automotive Technology - Technician, A.A.S.
The Automotive Center of Excellence offers high-tech training using state-of-the-art instruction, the latest technology and equipment that prepares technicians to troubleshoot complex issues and make repairs.

Specialized classroom and practical lab work experiences are used to prepare students for a long career in the automotive repair industry. Since this program is designed to prepare graduates for a career in the Automotive Repair Industry, personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools are expected to be purchased by students in order to perform routine class and laboratory assignments.
Students receiving their Level 1 Certificates or an AAS degree can look forward to a variety of employment opportunities in the automotive industry as repair technicians, service writers, service managers, shop foreman, and/or business owners. Founded in 1983 as an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3)organization the mission of the ASE Education Foundation is to improve the quality of automotive technician training programs nationwide at secondary and post-secondary, public and proprietary schools. To accomplish this mission ASE examines the structure, resources and quality of training programs and evaluates them against standards established by the industry. These standards reflect the skills that students must master to be successful in the industry.
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:

Demonstrate competency in automotive brake and suspension service procedures. Demonstrate competency in automotive automatic and manual transmission service and related systems.

Demonstrate competency in automotive engine repair and replacement service procedures. Demonstrate competency in automotive electrical and electronic systems service and procedure.

Demonstrate competency in automotive airconditioning service and repair. Demonstrate professional work habits and techincal skills necessary for success in the automotive repair industry.

Autobody/Collision Repair Technician, C1
The Autobody/Collision Repair Technician certificate program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, reconstruct and finish automobile bodies, fenders, and external features. The program includes instruction in structure analysis, damage repair, non-structural analysis, mechanical and electrical components, plastics and adhesives, painting and refinishing techniques, and damage analysis and estimating.

Automotive Technician, C1
The Automotive Technician certificate program provides students with the same automotive technology core as the AAS degree and in some instances, the same employment opportunities including repair technician, service writer, service manager, shop foreman, and business owner. The certificate program does not include the academic classes which are required for the degree. The program is NATEF certified, and all instructors are certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

Automotive Technology - Maintenance & Light Repair, C1
The Maintenance & Light Repair Certificate prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, service, and maintain all types of automobiles and to provide customer/consultation services. Instruction includes brake systems, electrical systems, engine performance, engine repair, suspension and steering, and heating and air condition systems. Students completing the award are prepared for immediate employment at the entry- and intermediate-levels as service consultants, service managers, and shop foremen. The Automotive Technology program is accredited by the (NATEF), which would include the new certificate. Licensure/Certification is not required for employment.

Light Automotive Maintenance Technician, O.S.A.
The Light Automotive Maintenance Technician Occupational Skills Award (OSA) is designed to provide students with basic knowledge in servicing practices, shop safety, rules, basic shop tools, test equipment, and gasoline engines and systems basics.
