The Hospitality Administration program at Houston City College prepares students for entry-level management roles across the hospitality industry. Training covers key areas such as front office operations, customer service, marketing, and essential leadership skills for today’s service-driven workplaces.

Hospitality Management, A.A.S.
The Hospitality Management Degree is designed to prepare graduates for entry level management positions in the hospitality industry. Students acquire a broad base of knowledge and skills for a successful career in a challenging business service environment. The program focuses on courses such as front office procedures, hospitality marketing, food and beverage management, hospitality resource management, and hospitality legal issues. All of these courses are uniquely designed for the hospitality service industry.

The Hospitality Administration Program mission is to provide hospitality professionals with dynamic management and leadership skills focused on contemporary industry experience through a comprehensive curriculum, a commitment to exceptional teaching and student success.
TSI testing required prior to first enrollment for all AAS degrees and Level II certificates.

At the conclusion of the program, Hospitality Management students will be exposed to the technical knowledge of operations required for career advancement in the global hospitality industry; demonstrate social, critical thinking and communication skills necessary for successful careers and for becoming lifelong learners; practice hands-on and real-world experiences necessary to become successful professionals; and examine the importance of community and social responsibilities.

At the conclusion of the program, Hotel Management students will summarize management practices; explain basic hotel departments and functions; identify building systems, facilities management and security and safety features; and determine appropriate guest services and strategies.

At the conclusion of the program, Restaurant Management students will summarize management practices; explain basic restaurant departments and functions; participate in and manage work teams in food preparation; and determine appropriate customer services and strategies.

At the conclusion of the program, Event Management students will apply programmatic principles relevant to the event and meeting industry to a variety of event-related scenarios focusing on the concepts and principals involved in meeting and event planning strategies; and plan an event using current practices, trends and concepts.

The Restaurant Management certificate introduces students to the basic management techniques and administrative practices and procedures of the restaurant and food service industry. Individuals completing this course of study are qualified for entry-level management positions within the industry.
