The Real Estate program at Houston City College provides students with the knowledge and specialized skills needed for a wide range of careers in the real estate industry. Students can prepare for roles in residential sales, commercial real estate, mortgage lending, inspection, and property management.

Real Estate - General, A.A.S.
The AAS in Real Estate is a two year program that introduces students to the many opportunities in the real estate industry such as residential and commercial brokerage, comparative market analysis, property management and investment. Upon completion, students will have met the educational requirements for the Texas Real Estate salesperson and broker licenses.
The Real Estate program provides students with the knowledge and specialized skills required for career opportunities in the real estate profession. Students may choose to prepare for careers in residential sales, commercial real estate, mortgage lending, appraisal, inspection, or property management.
Courses are available for professional development or for personal information. The Real Estate program offers current workplace curriculum and training in the use of technology to assist individuals and business and industry in meeting their professional goals.
This HCC Real Estate program is accredited by the Texas Real Estate Commission, 1101 Camino La Costa, Austin, TX 78711-2188, 512.459.6544.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) allows students to earn only one AAS in Real Estate. Students may choose from one of the following two specializations: General or Mortgage Lending.
In addition, please note that a student may only earn one Occupational Skills Award (OSA) per academic year.
TSI testing required prior to first enrollment for all AAS degrees and Level II certificates.
Students will be able to:

Analyze the disclosure requirements in various real estate situations.

Explain the elements of the fiduciary obligation.

Property Management, C1
The Property Management program is designed for students wanting to enter the property management field as an onsite manager, consultant, owner, or assistant. The curriculum focuses on the operational side of non-residential real estate and includes maintenance, rent collection, insurance and legal issues.

Real Estate - Residential, C1
The Residential Real Estate program prepares students to enter the world of residential real estate as a salesperson, broker or leasing agent. The curriculum meets the Texas Real Estate Commission’s educational requirement to obtain a salespersons license and meets the Statutory Annual Education (SAE) requirement.

Real Estate Sales Agent, I.C.
This Real Estate Sales Agent Licensure program is designed to satisfy the educational requirements set by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) for obtaining a sales agent license. Each course is 30 hours in length, providing a comprehensive foundation in real estate principles and practices Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn a digital badge as a recognition of their achievement. Graduates will be eligible to submit the required course completion documentation along with their Texas Real Estate License application to TREC, paving the way for a successful career in real estate.
