Students in an art gallery

Studio Art

The Studio Art program invites students to explore creative expression through hands-on practice, critical inquiry, and visual experimentation. Grounded in both traditional techniques and contemporary approaches, the program fosters artistic growth across a range of media while encouraging students to develop a strong conceptual voice. Through close mentorship, collaborative studio environments, and rigorous critique, students gain the technical skills, creative confidence, and cultural awareness needed to pursue professional artistic careers or advanced study in the visual arts.

Education track: University Transfer

The Studio Art Program strongly recommends that a student complete this degree before transferring to a 4-year college or university studio art program. Some specialty visual arts colleges such as Kansas City Art Institute, Savannah College of Art and Design, etc., might require freshman or sophomore coursework specific to specialized programs at their schools. This associates degree is intended for studio art majors. Students interested in an Art History major will require additional art history and language courses. Students interested in an Arts Education major will require a color theory class.
