Tutoring & Learning Support

Houston City College is committed to your success. We offer free one-on-one tutoring in-person at our campuses, real-time video conference tutoring and Online asynchronous tutoring to current HCC students.

Additional Academic Support

Avanzando Through College

The Avanzando Through College program, a partnership of Houston City College and UnidosUS, aims to help Latinx (Latino/Hispanic) first- and second-year college and transfer students to complete and excel in their higher education journeys with the main goal of obtaining a bachelor’s degree.

Digital Access Centers

The Digital Access Centers are all-inclusive spaces for students in need of digital learning support and will provide tools for digital literacy and academic success.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) is a process for assessing learning gained outside a traditional academic environment. This could be learning acquired through military service, employer training programs, independent study, non-credit courses, open courseware, or volunteer or community service.

Society of Eagle Mentors

Society of Eagle Ambassadors (SEA) seeks to provide support and guidance to students by encouraging successful completion of program goals and beyond.

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction is an academic enrichment and support program that uses peer-assisted study sessions to improve student retention and success in historically difficult courses.
