PepsiCo donates semi-trailer truck to HCC Heavy Vehicle, Diesel and Industrial Technology program
Houston City College (HCC) Northeast will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to announce the donation of a Class 8 semi-truck by PepsiCo to HCC’s Heavy Vehicle, Diesel and Industrial Technology program. The event is Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the HCC Northline Campus, 8001 Fulton Street.

After spending more than 20 years in the transportation industry, John Russell Spear, Jr., decided it was time for a new direction. John enrolled at HCC Northeast where, in May 2025, he earned an Associate of Applied Science in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Technology.

HCC EMS Instructor receives HFD Legacy Honor Award
Congrats to HCC EMS Instructor Capt. Fred Chambers on receiving the HFD Legacy Honor Award. Captain Fred Chambers has devoted his life to serving others - on the front lines of emergency response, in support of fellow first responders, and in the classroom shaping the next generation of Houston Firefighters. For 32 dedicated years, he served the citizens of Houston with professionalism, courage, and compassion, ultimately rising to the rank of Communication Captain before his retirement in 2011.

HCC team wins grant to launch Community Information Ambassadors program
HCC has been named one of eight award recipients in the Community College Civic Info Challenge, a national initiative developed by Journalism + Design at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, The New School in New York.
