The Marketing program at Houston City College offers industry-focused, student-centered courses designed to prepare graduates for today’s fast-changing business environment. The Department of Mathematics at Houston City College provides a strong learning environment for studying mathematics, serving approximately 70 majors and over 11,000 students each semester. Career opportunities for graduates with mathematical training continue to grow, especially in STEM fields such as aviation, communications, oil and gas, real estate, and banking.

The program trains individuals to become multi-skilled technicians capable of supporting a wide range of duties within ambulatory health care settings. Students gain essential clinical, administrative, and patient-care skills that prepare them to work effectively in fast-paced outpatient environments, medical offices, and specialty clinics. Through hands-on training and foundational instruction, graduates are equipped to contribute to high-quality patient care and the efficient operation of ambulatory health care systems.

The Medical Biotechnology Program provides students with a strong foundation in the biological and laboratory techniques used in modern medicine and healthcare research. Through hands-on training and coursework in molecular biology, biotechnology, and laboratory procedures, students develop the skills needed for careers in clinical labs, biomedical research, and the biotechnology industry, as well as for continued education in health and science-related fields.

The Medical Laboratory Technician Program prepares students for vital roles in healthcare by training them to perform laboratory tests that support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Through hands-on laboratory experience and rigorous coursework, students develop skills in clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and laboratory safety, leading to careers in hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic laboratories or continued education in the clinical sciences.

The Multidisciplinary Studies Program offers students a flexible, individualized path to achieve their academic and career goals. By integrating coursework from multiple disciplines, students develop critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills while tailoring their education to their interests. The program prepares graduates for transfer to four-year institutions, career advancement, or diverse professional opportunities in a rapidly changing workforce.

Students in the music program also gain exposure to the commercial and creative sides of the industry. Coursework and hands-on experiences prepare them to become music business professionals, arrangers, songwriters, producers, and performers. By developing both artistic and industry-focused skills, students learn how to navigate today’s diverse musical landscape and pursue a variety of career pathways in the field.

The Music Program at Houston City College prepares students for seamless academic transfer to four-year universities to complete a bachelor’s degree in music. The curriculum builds a strong foundation in music theory, sight-singing and ear training, composition, and ensemble performance. Students also develop their skills through focused study in piano, voice, or instrumental concentrations.

The Nuclear Medicine Technology Program at Houston City College offers two flexible pathways to fit students’ schedules and career goals. In the two-year daytime program, students receive comprehensive instruction from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through classroom learning, hands-on training in on-site labs, and supervised clinical rotations at partnering medical facilities.

The mission of the Petroleum Engineering Technology program at Houston City College is to deliver high-quality education and hands-on training that prepare students for technical roles in the petroleum industry. The program focuses on developing practical skills, industry awareness, and workforce readiness for careers in exploration, drilling, production, and related operations.

The Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program at Houston City College prepares students for employment in a wide range of pharmacy settings, including community pharmacies, hospitals, and home health environments. Training focuses on the essential skills needed to support pharmacists in medication preparation, inventory management, and patient service.
