Students in the two-year Radiography Program at Houston City College learn through classroom instruction and hands-on training in state-of-the-art labs at the Coleman Health Science Center. The Real Estate program at Houston City College provides students with the knowledge and specialized skills needed for a wide range of careers in the real estate industry. Students can prepare for roles in residential sales, commercial real estate, mortgage lending, inspection, and property management.

The two-year Respiratory Therapist (RSPT) program at Houston City College prepares students for entry-level careers in respiratory care. Respiratory Care Practitioners evaluate, treat, and manage patients of all ages with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders.

The Studio Art program invites students to explore creative expression through hands-on practice, critical inquiry, and visual experimentation. Grounded in both traditional techniques and contemporary approaches, the program fosters artistic growth across a range of media while encouraging students to develop a strong conceptual voice. Students in the six-semester Surgical Technology Program at Houston City College attend lectures and gain hands-on experience in the lab at Coleman College for Health Sciences. The program begins each fall and prepares students with the practical skills needed for surgical technology training.

The Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) is a state-approved transfer degree that provides the first two years of coursework required for students pursuing Texas teacher certification. This program prepares future educators with foundational knowledge in teaching, learning, and child development and is designed for seamless transfer into a four-year bachelor’s degree leading to initial teacher certification.

This program prepares students for a wide range of translator, interpreter, and localization specialist positions across corporate, nonprofit, medical, legal, and technical fields. Graduates gain the linguistic, cultural, and professional skills needed to provide accurate, high-quality translation and interpretation services. Students may also use their training to launch their own freelance business and work independently with clients in diverse industries.

Welding is the most common way of permanently joining metal parts. In this process, heat is applied to metal pieces, melting and fusing them to form a permanent bond. Because of its strength, welding is used in shipbuilding, automobile manufacturing and repair, aerospace applications, and thousands of other manufacturing activities. Welding is also essential in construction, where it is used to join beams, build bridges, and connect pipes in pipelines, power plants, and refineries.

The World Language Program at Houston City College offers instruction in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. Courses are designed to help students build practical communication skills, cultural understanding, and confidence in using the target language for real-world interactions, academic study, and global engagement.
