Houston City College Central College Reality COLLAB will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new immersive learning space from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the J.B. Whiteley Building, Room 201, 1301 Alabama St., Houston.

When Simon Obame came to the United States nearly two years ago from Gabon, his intent was to improve his English and return home to Africa and advance his career in the energy industry. He never intended to stay long in the U.S., but he fell in love with America’s culture and decided to take a huge step and start another degree. This year, two longtime chefs were looking forward to the annual event to showcase a curated experience not just for customers, but for student chefs as part of HCC's Culinary Arts program.

It had been eight years since Clariza Reyes fully finished a semester in college, and after one semester at HCC, the 28-year-old Interior Design student is now a Gucci Changemaker. While taking part in HCC’s Interior Design program over the Spring 2025 semester, Reyes applied for the renowned fashion designer company’s Gucci Changemakers Scholarship and was selected as one of just 10 scholarship recipients – the only Gucci Changemaker from a community college.
